Hello!  Since SPIG is brand new, we thought we’d introduce ourselves (especially since June is National Dairy Month!)We are Milton Creamery, a family owned cheesemaker based out of Milton Iowa.  

Milton Creamery is the result of a dream built in Southern Iowa over 15 years ago.  Our mission has always been to support small family farms, and we do that every day through making authentic cheese based on simple, traditional practices.  We believe this improves lives, preserves traditions, and strengthens our community.

From the very beginning, we have been adamant that all milk is sourced from local, small dairy farms within 30 miles of our facility.  This allows us to add value to the milk they provide, create jobs in rural Iowa and bring people a delicious cheese made with art and passion.

Our most decorated and beloved cheese is Prairie Breeze™, our twist on a well-aged cheddar style that is incredibly versatile and has a unique sweet and fruity flavor.  And just recently we completed the largest facility expansion to date, which now allows us to age up to 1.5 million pounds of Prairie Breeze™ and other cheeses at any given time. Additionally, Milton Creamery is committed to food safety and safe food handling.  We meet the SQF Code for Food Manufacturing, Edition 8.1 and SQF Quality Code, Edition 8.1.

Located in Kalona, IA, Farmers Hen House has been providing customers throughout the U.S. with Amish and Mennonite farm-to-table specialty eggs since 1997. This past year, Farmers Hen House launched an industry-first Traceability feature using blockchain technology to trace story of how their eggs get to your table.  Scanning a QR code on the carton, customers can discover when their eggs were picked up from the farm, packaged, and shipped.  They also can learn more about the specific farm where their eggs came from.   Their traceability feature has been highlighted along with other companies, including Walmart, Nestle, and others who are also utilizing blockchain technology to promote food transparency with their products.  With their traceability feature, Farmers Hen House is helping to raise the standard in food transparency, and showcase how they're more than an egg.
